Live in the "Now"

I have been contemplating on some things in life. When I have some things that are confusing me or puzzling me, I usually open up in the forum, to get other people's view on it (aside from mine and my husbands). I usually get a good perspective after discussions on the forum - with friends and other forumers.

Here is one thing that was shared by online friends (thanks, calaguyo and amelie):

It's really worth reading and I believe it's also worth sharing with others.

Here are the highlights:

God Gives Strawberries Every Moment

Actually, our life hangs by a thread.
At any moment, that thread can snap.

Every single day that passes is one day closer to your death.
Every single step you take is one step closer to your tomb.
Our lives are short. Very short.

Fulton Oursler said: We crucify ourselves between two thieves: Regret for yesterday and fear of tomorrow.
Protect yourself from these two thieves.

Surrender your regrets and fears to God.
Live in your “Now”.

There are three kinds of people:

First are people who focus on tomorrow—waiting and waiting and waiting. (More on this later.

Second are people who focus on yesterday—on how bad or how good it was. Some people are fixated to the past, they pine for the “good ol’ days.” They don’t see the blessings of today.
Be the third kind of person who lives in their “Now”.

Enjoy God’s Blessings Now
Sometimes, you can’t even see the blessings. So we end missing them. (What a waste.) And we even end up complaining, “God doesn’t love me.”

Why are we blind to our blessings?
Because we’re not awake.
We’re not mindful.
We’re not aware.
We’re not grateful.
Because we don’t live in the “Now”.

the golden rule of living in the present moment: Wherever you are, be there. Even during the difficult moments of your life.

Where You Are Now Is Exactly Where God Wants You To Be

Thank God for that Gift of Peace, the Gift of Pause.

Enjoy Life Wherever You Are

Slow Down! Get rid of hurry from your life.

Don't ever "wait" again.... because are living in the "now".

Enjoy your imperfect now --- your spouse, your kids, your parents, your in-laws, your friends.

Rest in God.
-- you will never be alone
-- “alone” place doesn’t have to be a geographical place. That “alone” place is actually within you.

After reading this I began to "loosen up" (even just for this moment). Life is short. Why worry myself with all the small hang ups in life when I can enjoy all the wonderful things around me. I have to really start living in the "now", as what I have been trying to do. I think I grew up in the environment where we were always worried about what will happen in the future and forgot all about enjoying what is here, now. The enjoyment of life is not really there.

But it's never too late. Everyday is a challenge, as it always will be. There will always be obstacles in our lives. There is no point dwelling on the past but only to learn from them. There is no need to wait for what will happen in the future, but only to work on the now to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow when we get there. There's really no need to be in a hurry every time because that's when we forget to appreciate what we have now. There's no need to have the perfect life, when we already have an imperfect now with the people that we care the most - our husbands/wives, our children, our family, our friends. Changing something about our now might mean we would lose out on those that we have now that we really enjoy - especially the people we share our lives.
